Shenzhen, China – December 28th – ZOPO is today officially announcing the inclusion of fingerprint scanning technology on its upcoming flagship smartphone, the ZOPO Speed 8. Previously, 4GB of RAM, the inclusion of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and being one of the first smartphones to use the HelioX20 – deca-core processor from Mediatek – were some of the confirmed features.

Fingerprint scanners have become a to-be-expected feature for most new smartphones released, and ZOPO isn’t holding back to adopt this new standard. For the unintiated, fingerprint scanners on smartphones allow the user to unlock and lock its device using the simple press of a finger in the scanner pad, instead of using those cumbersome awkward passwords that were used back in the old days. Ain’t nobody got time for passwords.

Fingerprinting is also important to perform security verifications during online transactions and is being integrated in a growing amount of apps, as developers are just now starting to explore the full potential of the technology on smartphones.

Plus, while until now you could fool most government spying security agencies by regularly changing your passwords, once you give away your fingerprint into your device and it gets uploaded to the cloud, you will be locked down and traceable by the system, forever. Welcome to the future.

Expect the full reveal of the Speed 8 during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona on February 24th.
